I have been a writer all my life. I filled journals with poetry and reflective writing from as early as I can remember. When I moved to North Carolina from the Chicago suburbs in 2012, those journals would have filled multiple suitcases. So, I had to decide which to keep.
I wish I still had them all. My career has been as a teacher, social worker and academic. I have always had an interest in the inner worlds of others. My work requires paying sensitive attention to the process of introspection. During this pandemic time, I have been working on expanding my own introspection and creativity. I have continued to write reflective essays and poetry. I have also developed a new love for nature and photography, which you will find on this website in addition to my writing. I have made a commitment to myself to continue to expand on these practices. I will not be throwing away any more journals. I earned my doctorate from The Institute For Clinical Social Work in Chicago, Illinois.
I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the North Carolina Writers Network, the North Carolina Poetry Society and the Living Poetry – North Carolina. I am available to write for your organization on a variety of topics related to life's challenges and joys. |
